Angus Taylor has denied the government’s feasibility study into a proposal to build a new coal-fired power station in Queensland is a political fix for the state’s voters, despite the announcement being made so close to the federal election.

Energy Minister The $10 million study will look into ways to meet the energy needs of heavy industry in north and central Queensland, including a project in Collinsville, which is home to the

state's oldest coal mine. Mr Taylor says the announcement is ‘not about politics’, and is instead a ‘practical’ solution to protect the jobs of ‘hard-working blue-collar workers in Queensland’.
