After nearly three weeks, the largest wildfire in Texas history is 100% contained. All state resources have been released and the fire has transitioned back to the local unit. The Smokehouse Creek Fire burned 1,058,482 acres, while the Windy Deuce Fire in Moore County burned 144,045 acres.
The two fires claimed two lives, burned hundreds of homes, and killed thousands of cattle. Xcel Energy said its equipment caused the Smokehouse Creek Fire. Ten wildfire-related lawsuits have been filed.
