Converting your electric geyser to use solar power is a cost-effective way to save on your electricity bill and ensure you always have hot water.

High electricity bills and cold showers have become common for many South Africans due to Eskom’s increasing tariffs and frequent load-shedding.

A traditional solar geyser can help mitigate these issues, but has several drawbacks – such as expensive installation costs due to plumbing works, heat loss and even freezing during colder months, and, for many, an unsightly addition to a home’s good looks. Technological advances have now brought a third option to the table – the ability to convert your existing electric geyser to use solar power.

Electricity cost is calculated on an average cost of R2.50/kWh with an expected increase of 12.5% during 2024. Thereafter tariff increases calculated to be in line with inflation at 6.5%.
