15th March 2019,ELON MUSK is trying to shake up the car market again with the reveal of the company’s new electric SUV, the Tesla Model Y.
The Tesla Model Y was unveiled at a launch event in California and pricing for the eco-friendly vehicle will start at $39,000 – but most models won’t be released until 2021.The mid-sized sport utility vehicle will offer a 230-mile battery range and 66-feet of cargo space, though high-end versions of the cutting-edge motor could cost as much as $60,000.
These more expensive versions of the Model Y might ship as soon as 2020, according to the company, but Tesla’s auto-pilot software will incur an additional charge.Tesla’s auto-pilot software and colours other than the standard black version of the vehicle are also set to incur an additional charge. According to Musk, the Model Y: “Will be able to do basically anything by the end of this year, just with software upgrades.”Previous Tesla cars such as the Tesla Model 3 and Tesla Model X have suffered production delays – with the Tesla Model 3 taking three years from launch to shipping.
