A Whitby man is now facing charges after an Oshawa woman on an electric scooter was struck and killed in May.

The collision happened on May 17 as the driver was exiting a gas station near Harmony Road North and Taunton Road in Oshawa. Durham police say the woman was riding an e-scooter on the sidewalk when a truck pulled out of the gas station on the southeast corner and struck her.The driver of the pickup was uninjured and remained on the scene.

On Tuesday, the driver, a 55-year-old man was charged with fail to yield from driveway under the Highway Traffic Act. Anyone with information about this incident or who witnessed this collision is asked to contact D/Cst.
