Parts of Sydney's CBD will be locked down to traffic as students take to the streets to protest inaction on climate change

Park Street will be closed between George Street and Elizabeth Street from 1pm, while parts of Elizabeth, Castlereagh, Pitt and Druitt Street will also be closed.

Thousands of students protested in Martin Place regarding climate change policy in November last year, and will gather again in Sydney on Friday."Traffic is expected to be heavier than usual on nearby roads including Market Street, King Street, College Street and Macquarie Street," the Transport Management Centre said.

The protest gathering will begin at 12pm at Sydney Town Hall before the march starts about 1.15pm, moving to Hyde Park. The authority is urging motorists to avoid the CBD in the early afternoon and anyone catching public transport to allow more time. Bus routes along the planned protest route will be diverted from 12.45pm and will use alternative stops. Roads are expected to be reopened by 3pm.

Good to see. Yet I wonder how many of these kids refuse, reuse and recycle, or are conscious of the fashion they wear and the cars they drive. I hope they are doing their bit in their daily life to reduce their contribution to the problem.

news_australian This is sickening, the thought of someone walking into a mosque and shooting helpless men, women and children while they are kneeling during pray is sickening. Our thoughts and prays with the victims, their families and emergency services personnel.

At least they’re seeing proof of how religion and the Nazis came to ascendency,...........”If you tell a lie often enough it becomes truth”! So there is a lesson here for them all today!

Now weirdos on far left & right have proof of how easy it is to programme our kids! Watch this develop! It'sThe Family,Christian Scientists,Family of Guard,Scientology,Catholicism,Nazi-ism & the rest of the World's 4000+/- religions & other isms all over again! WWW3 is next eh!

Next time do this on the weekend please.

They should have blocked the whole of Sydney, rampaged stores, cafes and all eateries AND made bon fires. Just like the Paris yellow vest protest. We need more ppl to stand up to stop global warming and distruction.

Everything seems so simple when you're 15, doesn't it? There is zero chance that there might be something they don't understand.

ideologist hippies in the making. Reality will kick their butt soon enough.

Should protest about when they will complete the tram and roadworks in the cbd

💃💃💃💃💃💃💃💃💃💃💃

How many would there be on the Weekend ?

Shut down the CBD and no children in the classrooms... great work lefties!

Tell them to get back to school and prove that it actually is a problem rather than a tax grab by politicians !

And in the blink of an eye these protesters will be registered voters. They will remember the inaction of our politicians.

students could see their future is at stake But LNP politicians r blind bats they can not see beyond coal$$$$

'Fantastic turnout': School climate strike draws big crowd in SydneyA massive crowd of students gathered in the Sydney CBD to rally against climate change inaction, with protesters overflowing from Town Hall. do kids that wag school normally attend school in protest then 😀 Wait until they are 40, finally leave home and have to pay their own electricity bills. 😂 I say good on them for finding their voice and using it and shame on us for not being out there to support them. I say enough of the “she’ll be right mate” approach because “she” ain’t going to be right if we continue sticking our heads in the sand & ignoring the issue. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️
