Penn State had played in front of larger crowds this season on its home field, but The Horseshoe was alive with big energy that had the host Ohio State Buckeyes playing a sharp brand of defensive football in a 20-12 home win

. The decibel-level of Ohio Stadium was often shown on the video board with a total of 105,506 making big noise for 60 full minutes.

Ohio State was a 5-point favorite at game time, in large part because of that home-field advantage that had a real impact on the outcome of Saturday’s game. Penn State played overmatched UMass at Beaver Stadium as its final tune-up for the Buckeyes and pitched a 63-0 shutout in front of 27 more fans than were at Ohio Stadium.

Fans will be back on Penn State’s side for a Saturday matchup against a struggling Indiana team at Beaver Stadium, which is followed by a trip to Maryland and another pivotal matchup at home against Michigan that can help the Lions salvage a playoff spot.
