Plateau State Government has reiterated that building resilient communities against climate change in the State involves investing in infrastructure that can withstand natural hazards, strengthen early warning systems, and promote sustainable land-use practices.

The government maintained the effort also requires a multi-faceted approach that involves collaboration between the government, civil society organizations, private sector entities, and the local communities themselves.

His words, “The International Disaster Risk Reduction Day, observed annually on the 13th of October, serves as a reminder of the critical role that disaster risk reduction plays in protecting lives, infrastructure, and the environment. It provides us with an opportunity to reflect on the progress made and the challenges faced in reducing the impact of disasters in Plateau State.

“The theme for this year resonates strongly with the situation in Plateau State. It underscores the importance of inclusion in building the resilience of our people. Inequality has plagued our world for far too long, hindering our collective growth and impeding the realization of a prosperous and sustainable future for all. It is high time we address this issue head-on and work towards building a society that is fair, just, and resilient.
