Petronas is officially the first company to adopt a 5G private network in Malaysia for enterprise use. It is deployed at the dynamic global energy group's

Regasification Terminal Sungai Udang in Melaka for the purpose of optimising its internal operations. As revealed during the launch event held earlier today, the move is supported by the Ministry of Communications and Digital and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission .

In a statement, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said the standalone network exhibited aspirations under the Madani economy and the New Industrial Master Plan 2023 framework.

On a related note, it is reported that MCMC is working closely with mobile service providers to deploy 5G private networks that will foster more use case development across industries in Malaysia. Apart from Petronas, no other local companies have publicly expressed interest in adopting this approach just yet.
