Electric car explodes on driveway setting fire to home

An "electric car" reportedly exploded on a driveway in a quiet residential street setting fire to a family home.

One man claims that after speaking to the owners of the car this morning they believed the cause of the fire was a "malfunctioning electric car battery", although this has not been officially confirmed by the fire service. Crews were at the scene at 9.57pm and two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the house to temper the blaze. The fire was extinguished at 10.10pm.
