With a national ban expected to come over the sale of petrol and diesel cars by 2030, the number of electric vehicles are expected to increase.

Manchester City Council is expected to install over 200 charging points around Manchester over two years.As of April last year, 155 charging points with 300 connectors are around Manchester however, this won’t nearly be enough for the future.

It is expected that the new charging points will be placed in council-owned car parks, libraries, leisure centres and more. The council currently has a list of over 40 public areas suitable for electric charging points that will be reviewed for approval. “We want to keep improving public transport and encourage active travel options, such as walking and cycling, for shorter journeys but undoubtedly electric vehicles also have an important part to play.
