Electric Picnic 2023 first look as we go behind the scenes of festival site

Irish band The Academic said it is a ‘dream come true’ as they have been announced as the final surprise act to play at Electric Picnic this year.

This isn’t the band's first time to play EP, having worked their way through all the smaller stages before reaching their way up to the top, and they said they can’t wait for their family and friends to see them at the top this weekend. They will take to the Electric Arena stage on Saturday night, and said they are looking forward to seeing some of the other acts before and after them, including fellow Mullingar man Niall Horan, who will go before them on Friday night.

It was then on through the forest, taking in the incredible installations along the Art Trail, as we headed for the Andy Warhol campsite where festival-goers will find Aldi’s pop-up supermarket for any last-minute supplies. “I think to be honest I know as a culture everyone kind of assumes the Irish to be big drinkers but I definitely see a massive trend in wellness and it’s so important.”
