“The customers who're buying this—our current Escalade customers and those who will be attracted to this—they're no-compromise buyers,” Baxter toldin an interview. “They have a high income, they do everything first class. They don't do this or that, they do this and that. These are people that don’t want their vehicle to compromise on anything.

The Escalade IQ’s price tag will also catch the attention of luxury buyers, as Cadillac plans to target a base price of around $130,000. That’s a notable step up from the $79,295 it takes to get into an entry-level 2023 gas model. While most Escalades transact much closer to six figures, that still might be a tough pill to swallow for many. There aren’t many large electric SUVs for the Escalade IQ to compete with at the current junction, though that will surely change by 2025.
