Biden was asked by the Weather Channel's Stephanie Abrams if he would declare a national emergency regarding climate change, to which Biden replied,"We've already done that." Abrams asked for confirmation that the national emergency had already been declared, to which Biden started to respond but stopped and said,"You've got a bug on you," brushing off the apparent bug near her shoulder.
The interview recorded at the Grand Canyon in Arizona was intended to meet"viewers where they are — including those who don't tune into political news on a regular basis," White House communications director Ben LaBolt said. Biden rarely does televised interviews, with the president's last interview in July.
The public holds a high distrust of climate change for both political parties, the survey also shows. Of the 1,404 adults polled, 59% distrust the Democratic Party on the matter compared to 39% who trust the party, while 74% distrust the Republican Party compared to 24% who trust the GOP on climate change.
