Plans for an electric vehicle charging hub near a major roundabout in Renfrewshire have been re-submitted to theOsprey Charging Network wants to develop a section of field next to the Deafhillock Roundabout – close to Johnstone.

The company is proposing a hub with 12 ultra-rapid charging points, a solar canopy, associated parking and vehicle access, substation and infrastructure. It said in a design and access statement: “The proposed development is situated to the north of Johnstone, close to the A737.The application is a revision of a previously withdrawn application, following an initial consultation with the council.Osprey said the development would have “minimal visual impact” on the area, with the entire development limited to 3.1 metres in height.

The charging bays would be grouped together, according to the statement, with a one-way route around the edge. It is intended 11 of the bays would be covered by the canopy, offering protection from the elements, with one placed outside to allow high-sided vehicles to use the facility.
