The latest predictions from analysts at Cornwall Insight suggest that energy bills will remain ‘relatively stable’ but significantly above pre-pandemic levels for the foreseeable future. The energy experts are forecasting that Ofgem’s next price cap in October will fall to £1,860 for a typical dual fuel household.
Peter’s practical tips can either help households slash energy bills by either being more efficient or by using the right equipment around the home. Spend a minute less in the shower - save £80 a year Reducing the time you spend in the shower will not only cut down on your water usage, but reduce your energy bills too. Showering for five minutes can save you around £80 a year on electricity bills.
Use draught-proofing tape - save £40 a year Draught proofing tape can be purchased online for £3.99 and saves you up to £40 a year directly and could allow you further savings as homes with less drafts are more comfortable at lower temperatures - this means you could turn down that thermostat again for more savings.
Bleed your radiators - save £90 a year Trapped air in your radiator can prevent heat from filling your radiator making your heating less efficient. A less efficient heating system means more energy is required to warm up your home. Turn off devices rather than using standby mode - saves over £40 a year You may think that keeping your devices on standby mode is a money-saving hack in itself but the opposite is true. Standby mode uses up a surprisingly high amount of energy because the device needs to be ready at a moment's notice.
