now reporting that supposed plans by Geely to enter Thailand with a significant investment have been cancelled. The Thai publication said that reason for canceling the said plan was due to “various situations.”report did not explicitly state what these were, it did state that in May 2023, former prime minister Tun Mahathir Mohamad brought Malaysian investors to the Shanghai Auto Show to meet Geely and convince the automaker to invest in Malaysia instead.

While this investment is expected to centre around the development of Proton-related models, it doesn’t discount the possibility of Proton providing contract assembly for the wider Geely group in the future, as it has excess capacity at its car and engine plants in Tanjung Malim.Anthony Lim believes that nothing is better than a good smoke and a car with character, with good handling aspects being top of the prize heap.
