The Volvo EX30 electric SUV: launch date set

on price. UK buyers will be able to place deposits for the car the moment the sheet is whipped off.

We’ll start with Volvo’s carbon-cutting plans. The brand says the EX30’s lifetime CO2 emissions are 25 percent lower than the XC40 and C40. After 124,000 miles of driving, Volvo estimates each EX30 will have produced less than 30 tonnes of CO2. But Volvo’s CO2-cutting strategy doesn’t end there. The factory that builds the EX30 runs on 100 percent climate-neutral electricity – and when the car reaches the end of its useable life, Volvo says it was designed to be 95 percent recyclable.

Other equipment includes a new airbag for the inside of the driver’s seat that’s designed to reduce head and thorax injuries in the event of a sideswipe or T-bone accident. Volvo has also strengthened the EX30’s safety cage and roof to better protect occupants in the event of an accident – but there’s also a host of active safety equipment designed to prevent crashes from happening in the first place.
