Court date set for challenges over Cumbrian Coal Mine - but campaigners still face lengthy wait

There will be a five-month wait for the High Court hearing challenging the UK Government's decision to permit the first deep coal mine in more than 30 years.

A judgement will be made immediately on the final delay. Friends of the Earth lawyer Niall Toru said the group has “a strong case against the decision to grant planning permission for this coal mine and looks forward to setting it out before the court”.He said: “We have a strong case against the decision to grant planning permission for this coal mine and look forward to setting it out before the court in October.
