Quebec, Ottawa pledge $300 million for GM electric car battery component plant

Federal Industry Minister François-Philippe Champagne, pictured during Question Period, said Ottawa will contribute up to $147 million out of $300 million from government for an EV battery component plant in Quebec.BECANCOUR, Que. — The governments of Quebec and Canada are announcing $300 million in funding for a factory that will make components for electric vehicle batteries in Becancour, Que., which is located about halfway between Montreal and Quebec City.
