Coal & oil are forms of stored energy. 'Renewable' energy (wind, wave, solar) must used directly or stored in batteries. Use renewables where feasible. Fossils fuels will still be necessary. Trying to run a city on batteries in a week long snow storm will be a wake up call.
I am happy that Germany stops using fossil fuels for a better future.

This comment thread is a joke- a move toward relying upon renewable energy is “bad” because If places like Germany didn’t embrace it, these energy sources would never improve and when we’re l down to our last barrel of oil, we’ll be glad they did.
Climate change has been happening and will happen. But we cannot stop it, may be slow it down a little. Green energy is expensive and we just can’t abandon fossils.
