However, many communities are only beginning to recognise what is coming to their area and to grapple with the local implications.
They want a long-term strategy for financial benefits to flow to the whole community rather than just to a small group of landholders. Communities hosting large carbon offsets want to know that these projects can co-exist with and benefit agriculture and the environment. But they are also cynical about the likely local outcomes and conscious that the difficult local trade-offs and downsides aren’t really understood by governments or industry. The onus is on the Commonwealth and State and governments who are driving this change to create a practical process for regional involvement, deal with local downsides and define stronger pathways for local benefits.
Why don't you learn about what green house gases are for a starter, that will be a huge surprise for you, then see if you can read the REAL figures on 'global cooling' which is currently happening, then go and do your sums on the tragic impact of your 'green technology'. Okay?
I would love more green investment in my community. Anyone blocking this is throwing their community’s economic security out the window for misguided ideological reasons. Sad.
Great points about the need for social licence and widespread community benefit in the energy transition. It really needs to be a national project.
Net zero is a politicised load of shite. It will do nothing for the climate.
CO2 is life. CO2 is greening Earth. CO2 has never been shown to drive climate. I love CO2, more please.
Net zero energy production is coming quicker than you think... This will end up with net zero heating, lighting, transport, industry etc.
