BERLIN — Germany began winding down its three remaining nuclear power plants Saturday as part of a long-planned transition toward renewable energy.
That's a cooling tower in the foreground. Not a nuclear reactor. Cooling towers are found in any power plant that uses steam turbines. Coal and natural gas included. Please use Google image search when in doubt 😉

I’m so confused
Radioactive decay makes the heat for nuclear power plants. It isn’t fuel that used or consumed. It’s just concentrating and taking advantage of radioactive decay that would happen anyway. It’s not like the heat is more and The radioactive material would always have been there.
Smh, moving backward. Nuclear is the best clean and sustainable source of energy we have. It’s not 1950 anymore, we can safely and securely store nuclear waste. It is not green sludge that leaks into the soil, lots of people are misled and it’s sad.

What a contradiction. Nuclear is renewable, if done correctly, which the Germans have, it’s extremely clean, safe and very efficient in comparison to all other renewable energy. The Germans have lost all common sense here.

They fired their coal back up... last time I checked, they'd had 2 gas pipelines from Russia. If it wasn't for Putin stupid invasion Germany they would have gutted their nuclear for natural gas.
