JOHOR BARU: The recent floods show climate change is having a recurring impact on Johor and the situation must be addressed immediately so things will not get worse, says an executive council member.

"This disaster among others, the adverse effect of climate change, urban planning, not to mention the geographical landscape in certain parts that are at or below sea level," said tourism, environment, heritage, and culture committee chairman K Raven Kumar .

He added that this required a strong cross-sectoral drive involving multiple stakeholders including policymakers, academicians, key industry players, and technology developers to overcome this challenge together. The programme was also attended by Johor Corporation president and chief executive Datuk Syed Mohamed Syed Ibrahim and Johor Baru mayor Datuk Mohd Noorazam Osman.
