Asialink Business CEO Leigh Howard says Australia aims to be “growing the China relationship” as Western Australia Premier Mark McGowan and Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk plan to travel to China.

“This investment in growing the China relationship and restoring trade investment opportunities is certainly quite pronounced recently, so I expect this won’t be the last visit announced by a state Premier to China,” Mr Howard told Sky News Australia.

“The big theme of the last few years has been diversification and energy spent into developing relationships with other markets – days of putting all the eggs in the China basket so to speak are far behind us. “There’s a recognition of the exposure that being so heavily invested in one market, the challenge that has presented and could present again … there will be an attractiveness about premium prices coming back online as the China relationship normalises.”
