Prof William Gumede argues that because it’s taxpayer’s money therefore wasteful expenditure must be explained, ‘that’s what a democracy is about’

The decision to exempt Eskom from disclosing its irregular, fruitless and wasteful expenditure has been criticised from several quarters, but Treasury insists it had to be done to allow the power utility to manage its borrowing costs...From World War 1 to present-day cosmopolitan South Africa and beyond, the Sunday Times has been a pillar in covering the stories that matter to you.

Duboyz3 Oh, what happened 😂, William Gumede, the biggest protector of current regim. Sithule siyabuka

We are really on the ISH

I agree

The professor is absolutely right. Any questions that need to be answered Eskom_SA need to be open and transparent. The public a) funds Eskom and b) funds the government. Politicians serve the people. We demand answers and action to stop the gravy train within and without…

Hope u were vocal also abt USD 580.000 hidden in Cyril mattres 🤷‍♂️

Maybe the Prof should run the ruling party.

Everybody knows this, well, almost, not the Commies in Parliament, the ANC and Cadres do as they please.

Clearly the MYANC is tired of being the ruling party they must be voted out. They take South Africans for granted.

DEMOCRAZY

Maybe its that time for tax revolt

The ANC are strangers to democracy!

Democracy 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

If info disclosed in 'AFS' will render it qualified and affect bankability and borrowing decisions or cost of borrowing, and that same info will be disclosed in the 'Report', will astute lenders not look at ALL the info available? Or will the 'Report' be 'In Camera Top Secret'?

ANC trying to institutionalise corruption at the expense of taxpayers

It is every reason to have accountability and transparency

U let Cyril get away with him sealing his funding...🤣

Well this is a basic principle of democracy.

How do these guys sleep at night?...Anc is the most evil party I've ever seen

Famous paintings by Banksy

They treat us like their private business

The ANC crime syndicate has completed their circle of influence! They steal, loot and plunder, when caught appoint a special minister of 'propaganda' who declare there is NO corruption, then they legalise the corruption coverup - gazetted and everything!!! So 'business' as usual.

Cyril is showing us flames

This are Mafias.

This must be the most untransparent government in human history except for the Nazi regime of WW2.

It is impossible to teach anybody of the aint-no-cee or associates about democracy. It is easier to try to teach a pig to sing. The pig would just get annoyed. The disgusting aint-no-cee would call the murderous putin of mother russia and iran to help chase you all into the sea

As soon as De Reyter expose them, they bring this to the table... the whole ANC must take a hike!!

These mf's seem to forget who they must account to.. the audacity 🙄

He's trying to cover up the involvement of ANC leaders in the destruction of eskom

They must tell us whr our tax money goes, if they can't do that it means they're hiding something sensitive.

The ANC really thinks that they are doing us a favour and if we dare ask questions, they have an “how dare you” attitude.

Thabo has a lot of Letters to write 🤭

This minister uyasinyela yaz.

Only corrupt ANC can think of this.

Good old fiddling the books. They learn from Steinhoff I suppose.

I concur with the prof ...this is tax payers money not ANC money, we need to know what are monies are used for uthini lo madala first it was with public servant's siyabazama as if it is his money..now this remixes, where is juju bafowethu, very quiet emmella it is becoming bad

The problem is that the minister has to do whatever he can to defend or cover up the corrupt practices that brought Escom, the SOE'S, and, for that matter, the country's economy to its knees.

Finance minister is bloody mad

They must have taken a page out of Russia book of 'Citizens don't need to know that'...... Welcome to The Banana Republic
