Duke energy restores power to over 61,000, 9,200 remain out of service

PLAINFIELD — Duke Energy crews have restored power to more than 61,000 people as crews continue to respond to customers affected by outages after the severe storms that moved through Indiana on Friday and heavy wind on Saturday.

“The outage numbers don’t tell the story, however, of the damage we are seeing,” Brian Liggett, Duke Energy vice president of zone operations said. "Our hearts go out to those affected by this storm, and our crews are working diligently to restore power in impacted communities as safely and quickly as possible” Liggett said.

More renewable energy, advanced nuclear energy planned for the WestA long-term resource plan released Friday by PacifiCorp anticipates a nearly fourfold increase in new wind and solar energy by 2032 and a system-wide 70% reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by 2030. Sounds like an enormous waste of money that will make China more wealthy. The new problem we are seeing is that people plug their cars in to charge at night while solar panels are not producing. If too many people do this and more traditional power plants go offline, we will have a major issue.
