Mercedes-Benz Expands Lithium Production In Germany

“For Mercedes-Benz, the shift towards electric mobility also means a change in our supply chains. Chief Technology Officer, Development & Procurement. “Today’s groundbreaking in Guben is therefore another milestone for Mercedes-Benz towards the sustainable production of state-of-the-art batteries.

According to the supply agreement between Mercedes-Benz and Rock Tech, the two companies will work together to create a plan to achieve net carbon-neutral production of lithium hydroxide by 2030. Additionally, the lithium hydroxide supplied by Rock Tech must originate from mining sites that have undergone an audit by the Initiative for Responsible Mining Assurance .Mercedes-Benz pointed out in the announcement that it has been doing other things to strengthen the lithium industry in Europe.
