March 27 - The Biden administration plans to send Mexico an "act now or else" message in coming weeks in an attempt to break a stalemate in an energy trade dispute as bipartisan calls grow for the U.S. to get tougher with its southern neighbor, according to people familiar with the discussions.

The Office of the United States Trade Representative is expected to make what was described as a "final offer" to Mexico negotiators to open its markets and agree to some increased oversight, three people familiar with the talks told Reuters. If not, the U.S. will request an independent dispute settlement panel under the Unites States Mexico Canada Agreement, or USCMA, they said.dispute settlement talks with Mexico in July - 250 days ago.

The White House has hoped to avoid escalating trade tensions with Mexico as it sought help on immigration and drug trafficking. But months of talks have yielded little progress and the administration has run out of less-combative options, the sources told Reuters.

Uyyy!

all mexico gotta do is hold the avocados and tequila for ransom and the usa is doomed !

Can we remove this man from office please?

So the US can threaten another country to 'open' commercial competition. But China cannot openly compete in the US and the US actively bans them?. And not only them, lots of sectors are forbidden from entering the US as protectionism, but then the US demands others to open..

Me lleva la chingada, pinche gobierno gringo.

Extremely Dangerous to Our Democracy 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡

Mexico should just cut all ties with the U.S and join BRICS since they like to make threats.

The US is fundamentally protectionist. However, the US has the nerve to threaten a free, independent and sovereign country to open its market to American companies or the US will sanction Mexico. The USA is a nation that is abusing the rest of the world.

Something something NAFTA or USMCA CUSMA or whatever it is now. As everyone learns, mutual agreements are to US benefit or they’re worthless.
