Democrats in Albany are poised to ban natural-gas hookups in new buildings. A recent poll found a slight majority of New Yorkers oppose the idea.

The measure is on track to be added to the state’s coming budget, which is due to be completed this week. Democratic Gov.

Kathy Hochul in January pitched an all-electric building mandate in her spending plan, and both chambers of the Democratic-controlled State Legislature included similar proposals in their respective budget outlines. One of the legislation’s most noticeable effects would be an end to gas stoves in new homes, along with other gas-powered appliances such as water heaters, furnaces and clothes dryers.

The result of this survey does not surprise me. The only surprising thing is the fact that it is being considered to begin with.

This would be an infringement on freedom of choice

Love it Dems getting what they voted for good and hard

Natural gas is the cleanest form of fossil fuel. Electricity is generated using coal and oil. Who gave States the right to make our economic decisions?

Smart move! It’s bad for public health and the environment.

Hmmm...a monolithic supply of energy. What could go wrong?

wait til that first paralyzing storm that knocks all the power out

Completely Bullshit!

Gas cannot be turned off remotely, unlike electricity. Now think of all the different reasons why the rich and powerful would want to turn this off remotely and you'll have a good idea why this is being pursued.

Absolute morons

Control. Government wants more control. The time will come when they will be able to monitor your energy usage. Use too much they will limit your availability. Kinda like the unlimited data plans the phone companies have. Harder to control gas especially propane.

Don’t worry when the Chinese take over the US they will allow gas stoves again.

Electric stoves are far more sensible

Why can’t Albany instead focus on broad and permanent property tax relief? That’s what NY residents want.

They gonna force people to use oil

This should help stop the mass exodus from this state🤣

So many more important issues to concentrate on and get results. Shinny ball syndrome looks real bad on them.

Hhmmm, natural gas huh….well if they lose power there goes hot water/heater/stove/warm food 💁🏻‍♂️

lol they win good money so they can afford how much the electric bill will be with electric stoves, gas stoves are 10x better than electric btw and less expensive

Ridiculous!!!!!

Stolen elections have consequences

right!!..what a great idea!!, let's make the entirety of the nation wholly dependent on the electric grid, your HVAC, cooking, lighting, transportation via EV's ..what could possibly go wrong , what evil lurks at the power switch..oh heck , let's give it shot..dig?..😂

How about addressing their understanding of the problems associated with piping, and leaking) a poison gas into your home and setting it on fire and it mostly not be ventilated?

Yet another half-baked Democrat idea, rife with unintended consequence potential and doomed to complete and total failure.

Another Democrat Party example of Authoritarian Freedom…

I'd keep the car windows rolled up if was driving through New York. I wouldn't want to get any on me.

Huge new strains on the electrical grid. Where will all the additional electricity come from?

Doesn’t that mean people will freeze in the winter

Good luck to Albany

you reap what you sow dem fools

Great way to put extra stress on the grid. 🤡🤡🤡

Slight majority? Doubtful What do we do .GovKathyHochul for the next Hurricane Sandy or major snows/icestorm? I was w/o power for 2w during Sandy. If I didn't have a gas stove idk what we would have done We finally got a generator which runs on.... (Hint you don't plug it in)

“What could go wrong?”

How will people heat their house or apartment when the electricity gets shut off during a snow storm. Which happens allot in New England areas. Do these lefties ever think ?

Lmao

Imagine using gas to heat homes, how third world.

may be New Yorkers will learn how to vote!?

It has already happened in California where Dems have supermajorities. cookingwithgas expensiveelectricity

Lunacy! Does QVC have them nucular stoves in yet. They’ll cook up. 30 lb Turkey in under 5 nanoseconds. Crispy on the outside AND inside!

and of course the grid is more than sufficient

Ridiculous..clean energy efficient..humm?!
