They want facts, but only the ones they want to hear? That's not how it works.
My first thought is that cold hard facts won’t be known until after we have succeeded at destroying the planet! Science is theory that shouldn’t be ignored. There is no downside to responding to theory. There is definitely a downside to ignoring it.
It isn’t “facts” that are needed. Rather, what we need are solutions with measurable metrics and associated measurable costs. Once we have those, we can make choices about what policies achieve which goals.
