Apple has a new charging feature in its latest update which iPhone users say has caused their phones to charge more slowly. Kurt 'CyberGuy' Knutsson explains.

Apple introduced a new feature called Clean Energy Charging. Apple states that this is a way for iPhone users to reduce their carbon footprint, ultimately benefiting the environment.

Enabling the Clean Energy Charging feature means that when you plug in your iPhone to charge it, it gets a forecast of the carbon emissions in your local energy grid and uses that forecast to charge your iPhone during times of cleaner energy production.Clean Energy Charging does not turn on every time you charge your phone. Rather, it typically only kicks in when you are charging your phone at locations you are at most often, like at home or work. It will also kick in at these locations if you are charging your phone for an extended period.

It will not kick in if you are charging your phone at a new location or if your charging habits often vary. When it does kick in, you will always be notified, and you can long-press the notification to turn the feature off if you do not want it used. More on that later.

It’s pretty easy to turn off. Took about 8 seconds

Er if Apple was bothered about 'clean energy' they wouldn't keep bringing out updated models which encourages people to upgrade every year or two. All the extra features on modern phones eat up battery life. I used to charge my old Nokia once a week for about an hour.

Yeah “NO!” it's our phone we bought it so stop already with your woke agender Apple! We're all set with making our own choices!

I can say for certain that this update immediately had the affect of killing my battery on a new phone. My phone went from lasting well over a day to nearly dying halfway through the day. Also there was no warning that this was turned on by default or when it’s being used.

Fucking Fox News. Once again they’re misleading their viewers. This is not a forced setting, it is an OPTION. Straight from the article: “…there is a way to turn this feature off if it is not something that you are interested in

BS!

Outraged? Just turn the switch off.
