A non-profit organization believes that the government should amend the tax incentives for electric vehicles as it 'lacks inclusivity.'

According to Philippine Business for Environmental Stewardship Secretary General Felix Jose Vitangcol, there seems to be a problem in the EO since only a limited portion of the population can afford to buy four-wheeled vehicles.

Under the EO, EVs such as kick scooters, pocket motorcycles, and self-balancing cycles are included in the tax breaks. On the other hand, two-wheeled electric motorcycles are still subject to a 30 percent import duty. “It is also they who are already perennially burdened by the soaring prices of basic goods and hampered by their limited income to provide for their families,” he added.
