Vanuatu, a nation made up of around 80 islands, has spearheaded a drive to define what legal responsibility countries have for the impact of climate change.

MORE THAN 100 countries, including Ireland, have backed a plan by Vanuatu to enlist the UN’s top court in tackling climate change.With rising sea levels threatening its future, Vanuatu, a nation made up of roughly 80 islands that stretch 1,300 kilometres, has spearheaded a drive for the court to define what legal responsibility countries have for the changing climate and its impacts.

Vanuatu was lashed by Cyclone Judy on Wednesday, with torrential rains and fierce winds uprooting trees, tearing roofs from buildings and flooding roads.

It's an absolute disgrace that ordinary people are faced with these astronomical bills..... and this is just the electricity bill - add on food, increased mortgages, heating, insurance etc etc. I bet their previous bills were estimated and much lower then they should have been. But hard to expect from old people to be on top of all changes.

The media needs to ask these TDs to state how many units the constituent was billed for. Because either they're growing cannabis in the attic or this is a simple billing error. It could also be because the meter reader couldn't get access for several months. And now electric Ireland are saying the next tranche of 200 euro can only be used on your march or April bills only and not taken of your account as the previous 2 bills
