No sign of new home builds getting cheaper as prices for energy-intensive materials such as concrete and glass continue to rise, despite supply chain delays easing.

"That's as a consequence of the increase in energy prices globally flowing through to the domestic market," he said. One of the directors of Stroud Homes Wide Bay, Aletha Walters, said the shortage of qualified workers was the "biggest issue" facing the industry. "It's been so long that, obviously, the [construction] prices have increased dramatically since then.

Many people would gladly change to a Trade Profession (including me), but it is NOT possible to survive 4 years of BULLSH1T 'apprentice' wages to lay down some bricks (for example). It's not rocket science. Make the qualifications short courses at TAFE, and people will do it!

But the article the other day was warning us about a reduction in building. This should in fact give people a chance to hire people for maintenance work?
