Switching from gas to electric appliances can save Aussie homes thousands a year as gas prices overtake the cost of electricity.

Gas appliances now cost more to run than electric appliances, according to One Big Switch, Australia's leading consumer buying power Network. Households could save up to $9500 over the 12-year lifespan of appliances, but making the switch can cost close to $6000-7000 when adding up appliance and installation costs.Switching from gas to electric appliances can save Aussie homes thousands a year as gas prices overtake the cost of electricity. "There was a time not so long ago, when gas was cheaper for your cooking, for your hot water, but electrical appliances are now cheaper to run," Joal Gibson from One Big Switch said.

For those who can't afford a total switchover, experts say just swapping out a gas "heat pump" for an electric one can save households up to 60 per cent of their power bill. The Australian Capital Territory's government has already implemented a ban on new gas connections to start this year, and will completely phase out all gas by 2045.

Rubbish. I've done the maths recently and the numbers do not make it cheaper especially in WA. That's not even including the cost to replace the gas equipment to electric and the sparky to do the electrical work.

9NewsMelb NEVER! i want to use all the dead dinosaurs!!

And p.s. Nothing beats a gas stove to cook with. Except fire.

The same narrative American Democrats are pushing, who would have known! Almost as if, wait for it, someone is telling them what to say and push their agenda 😱😱 who would have thought?

Bullshit. Then they will put electricity up. Wake up people

Look what Bill Gates's visit to Australia did with the media. They are slowly becoming woke, climate desperate, trans rights activists. You will see more and more about this. Like America is currently.

Switch it off at anytime, don’t be fooled

So….make an expensive, long term investment based on the short term volatility of markets? Yeah, nah……

Yes everyone will move to electric and then they will raise electricity and you have no choice but to pay
