The design house behind many a Ferrari now has a Ferrari fighter of its own.

Pininfarina went to India to set a new quarter-mile and half-mile acceleration time record, we're guessing to raise its profile in that country. It involvedas something of an official observer, with Hormazd Sorabjee setting a top speed of 358.03 km/h, or about 223 mph, which is a record in India.'s Renuka Kirpalani clocked 357.10 km/h, or about 222 mph, to become India's fastest woman in a road car ever.

Wearing Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tires to help its launch and to keep the car solidly grounded on the planet as it reached take-off speeds, the Battista was piloted by Development Driver Stefano Costa to a new claimed world record quarter-mile acceleration time of 8.55 seconds, according to VBOX data. The Battista also set a new half-mile acceleration record of 13.38 seconds.

Pininfarina previously quoted a quarter mile time of at least 9.1 seconds for the Battista, with the car claimed to achieve 0-60 mph in 1.9 seconds, 0-100 mph in 4.3 seconds, and 0-186 mph in 11.8 seconds, plus a top speed of 218 mph. It features a quad-motor all-electric powertrain good for 1,874 horsepower and 1,696 lb-ft of torque and a carbon fiber body, with a price tag around $2.2 million.
