Subway is partnering with an EV infrastructure startup to build electric car-charging 'oases' with green spaces, bathrooms and playgrounds.

It's partnering with electric vehicle infrastructure startup GenZ EV Solutions on the plan. It's a hint of what's to come as companies with big retail footprints figure out creative ways to embrace the electric transition — and make a buck or two along the way.

Subway plans to start with "smaller format" fast charging stations at some of its locations this year, the company says, with plans to launch the bigger "Subway Oasis" facilities sometime down the road.is essential to the adoption of EVs in the future, and Subway's scale will play an important role in democratizing charging infrastructure for millions of Americans," said GenZ CEO Jose Valls in a statement.

lol at the tweets below. People genuinely have a hard time moving forward and accepting new ideas.

whats next, bringing Jared back?

I thought they were selling? What if the new owner doesn’t want that?

That’ll work great in the Northeast in January

*oasis Good job social media team

amazing this company keeps finding ways to fail harder

They gave me food poisoning in college and I haven’t been back since

Is this an onion article

Maybe if Subway could concentrate on becoming a submarine sandwich oasis… … Jersey Mike’s wouldn’t be my go-to sub.

Huh. Interesting idea. A footlong and a charge.

Is anyone else struck by the supreme irony of a company called 'Subway' touting e-car charging after US car culture killed mass transit in so much of North America?

Why does a corp that serves fake food need to open a car charge service? More importantly...WHY IS A FAKE FOOD COMPANY PROFITTING ENOUGH TO CREATE A CAR CHARGING SERVICE? Profiteering and greed. Figured Subway's next move would be a daycare.

Yeah that’s the only way to make it work.

Is that really the plural of oasis?

This seems like a really good idea.
