The Australian Energy Market Operator has warned of a looming shortfall in the nation’s electricity supply within two years.

AEMO CEO Daniel Westerman said reliability gaps begin to emerge against the Interim Reliability Measure from 2025 onwards.

These gaps widen until all mainland states in the NEM are forecast to breach the reliability standard from 2027 onwards. Urgent and ongoing investment in renewable energy, long-duration storage and transmission is needed to meet demand.

I guess they can’t blame fossil fuel sources as the cause? 🤷‍♂️

Gas/coal is in abundance here and we sells most of it overseas. If we will have a shortfall of energy in a few years the easy thing would be to stop exporting coal and gas to use domestically. But it's not green? Then why export it to other countries to burn if it's that bad?

‘Urgent’: AEMO warns of more energy shortfallsAustralia’s Energy Market Operator has warned the nation may face more energy shortfalls later in the decade if supply issues are not resolved. The Motley Fool Chief Investment Officer Scott Phillips says a few key energy projects are “running late” which may potentially leave the grid short of supply. “It’s urgent because later this decade feels like some time away, unless you are in the energy generation business,” Mr Phillips told Sky News Australia. “You can’t just flick a switch tomorrow, if there is going to be a problem in 2027, 2028, 2029, you want to be dealing with it right now.” Again with the fake photos. If you have to take the photo at an unrealistic angle and then photoshop the hell out of it, then all readers should automatically assume that you are manipulating the story as well. All the gas and coal and the government is trying to destroy us How do you stop private business trucking all our coal + gas reserves out the country simply because they get a better price for it overseas?
