European consumer confidence has reached its best levels in a year likely due to the continent’s warmer winter lessening concerns surrounding energy prices, says CommSec’s Tom Piotrowski.

“That’s been bubbling along under the surface in recent times,” Mr Piotrowski told Sky News Australia.

“The fact they’ve had a slightly warmer winter has meant there have been fewer concerns around energy prices in the immediate term and the impact on consumer spending.”

Well in the UK I can tell you we are paying a fortune for heating. And the Bank Of England has just put up the base interest rate to the highest it's been in 20 years. So definately not boosting confidence in the UK.
