PAY AS YOU go energy provider Pinergy has become the first energy supplier in Ireland to drop its prices since rates began to rise in 2020.The planned decrease comes after Pinergy last increased its prices by 14% on 9 January, adding an estimated €320 to bills annually.
Daragh Cassidy, head of communications for bonkers.ie, said that Pinergy’s announcement is “obviously welcome news and yet another sign of some normality returning to the energy market”. It was announced earlier this month that electricity customers will receive a €89.10 payment toward their bills in the coming months.
A pathetic 7.1% reduction is a disgrace when we both know that the wholesale cost of energy is now lower than before the war in Ukraine broke out. Of course the Greenwash party and FFG have ensured that the energy regulator is toothless in this matter.
Proof companies can lower prices. Especially bord gais and Electric Ireland who have made record profits
Everyone else must be forced to do the same by the government. They have raked in enough the last few months.
