The five-member panel will be chaired by an energy policy analyst who’s been in the oil and gas industry for more than 30 years.

“I’m excited to bring together these skilled and experienced energy experts to help us plot a path forward for Alberta’s energy sector,” Premier Danielle Smith said in a news release on Thursday.

The panel comes after Smith sent a letter to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Thursday inviting him to collaborate with the province to attract more workers into Alberta’s energy sectors. The letter also asked the prime minister to work with the province to reduce Canada’s and Alberta’s net emissions at the same time.Story continues below advertisement

The premier said the government of Alberta is “prepared” to work with the federal government on a “coordinated approach” for a carbon capture, utilization and storage incentive program to reduce net emissions.Read next:Carbon capture is a process that captures carbon dioxide generated from industrial processes, such as the burning of fossil fuels, and then transporting and storing it underground. Unelected Premier pays supporters back by appointing them to taxpayer funded committee determined to find a way to insure the sun continues to rise and set in the west because that is the way it should be damn it.

Looks like an awkward first date.😂😂😂

As opposed to maybe a clueless Global “news” journalist who, along with his or her employer, knows jack squat about energy and the needs of modern society for cheap, reliable base load energy.

Going to shut it down !!!

97% of us don't work in oil and gas *and you wonder why you've lost relevance

Only a slight conflict of interest. 🙄

Voting for Danielle means $20,000,000,000 disappears. Over a decade, this represents: 👩‍⚕️- 5,900 less doctors 👨‍⚕️- 22,700 less RNs 🏥 - 23 less hospitals for rural Albertans 🏫- 253 less schools Less 💴 for Albertans = more for Danielle’s Donors Vote Wisely Alberta

Give me more oil...

Great choice, David Yager for chairman.

War room 2.0. More money for wealthy coming from you and me.

We need Tzeporah Berman back. Her and Ed Whittingham didn’t manage to completely kill the industry when the NDP were in. It was like appointing Goring and Himmler to run Israel’s foreign policy.

Poilievre backs Alberta’s concerns over federal ‘just transition’ legislation | Globalnews.caThe 'just transition' legislation is aimed at helping Canadian workers adapt to the global move toward increasing reliance on renewable energy instead of fossil fuels. I wonder if Global does. What’s the big deal if he backs her? Albertans are voicing their discontent towards Ottawa’s attack on oil and gas long before Danielle or Poillievre. Ottawa policy against energy is illogical and to some extent an attack on national security. Unfortunately Trudeau can’t see this He is CPC/UCP. His base is ALBERTA. Of course he backs Smith.
