OPINION: Wesfarmers reported record earnings from Kmart, Bunnings and its chemicals, energy and fertiliser arms. But it has warned of domestic inflationary pressures.

Wesfarmers is benefiting from cost-of-living pressures because its three main retail brands – Bunnings, Kmart Group and Officeworks – have pricing strategies pitched at value-conscious consumers.

He would not reveal how many people had signed up for OnePass, but said the figures justified the initial expenditure of about $45 million to set it up. Scott says the investment last year in UK data analytics advisory business Tecsa has given the company access to world-class experts in digital advice.

“We see that as a very important strategic partnership, and we’re working closely with them across our businesses.”Scott expressed frustration at the time involved in gaining environmental approvals for the Mt Holland lithium project in Western Australia, which is expected to have its first production of lithium hydroxide in the first half of 2025.
