Recent extreme winter weather in much of the western U.S.—not to mention a brutal snowstorm in Buffalo, New York, that, some of whom were in their cars—has sparked fresh concerns about what happens to electric vehicle drivers who get stranded in snowstorms.
As always, if you live in snowy regions or are traveling to where epic snowfalls occur it's wise to occur take precautions: bring winter clothes, snacks, water, a shovel for digging a snow cave—no matter what kind of vehicle you're driving. Of course, few of us will probably be that conscientious. Not to worry.Let's say you're in an EV and you get stranded out on the interstate in blizzard conditions when traffic grinds to a halt.
It's worth noting the EV in question did not even have a heat pump heating system; if it had it would have lasted far longer due to its greater efficiency versus the resistive heating system it was equipped with. Both the gas and electric test cars would also likely have lasted longer if they'd had one or more person inside of them for the duration of the test, since we humans emit heat as well.
Heat pumps, which are also used in homes, are considerably more efficient than the resistive heating that's standard in some EVs. Resistive systems heat up wires—like some electric baseboard heaters—to emit heat.
Locate the nearest EV charge station, and apply the charge and station. Easy.
If you go out in blizzard conditions without a full charge or full tank of fuel, then your bright lights are not very bright.
WALK & freeze - thanks electric junk
Die, but still somehow remain smug to the very end.
That’s called poor planning

Get right with god
You freeze
Catch it on fire to keep warm
Call myself an idiot because I shouldn't have taken the highway when I know it would be clogged with cars.
ICE or EV plan to not get stranded. It really is that easy.
Die as others watch on and laugh
Jam something sharp into a battery pack. Then stand back and enjoy the warm fire as your car sends smoke signals to the nearest fire station.
You forgot to consider that the stuck ICE powered vehicle can be refueled at roadside with a can of gas, which is sometimes how it’s done in these situations.
Please test how long an unplugged EV lasts while parked with temps below freezing - before the battery is damaged.
In addition, most BEV’s are charged at home, and tend to start their day with 80% charge. ICE vehicles are generally not refueled daily.
you call for the tow truck that is still using ICE And listen to the driver make fun of you 💬
Same thing if you get stranded in a gas car in winter? Lol
Not sure but the rest of us will be laughing our asses off.
Freeze
Just full charge in case . Just you would full tank . Same principal . Charge will deplete much faster only difference .
You should have a winter emergency pack regardless of what powers your automobile
