When the future was set to come to a small street in midtown Toronto, in the form of on-street electric vehicle chargers, homeowners said “No, thank you.”
Homeowner hesitation is one more complication to getting chargers on residential streets for use by residents or visitors. Other obstacles include equipment requirements such as utility poles close to existing on-street parking spots. The chargers “made no sense at all on a small street with young families and young kids playing out on the street all day,” Kallish said. “Also, they would take spots so that owners of two houses wouldn’t be able to park in front of their own home.”

All those EV charging stations are doing is taking away much needed parking spaces.
The problem is the idea that electric cars are the future. What we need for a safe and healthy future is better cycling/walking infrastructure

If they’re the future, it’s only by government edict. There is no market reason to think EVs will dominate in our lifetimes, if ever. Special parking for EVs is welfare for the wealthy.
It makes no sense to install them. Electric cars are will never last long term in Canada. They do not hold a decent enough charge & they are horrible for the environment
