Homeowner hesitation is one more complication to getting chargers on streets for city to hit climate change goals.

When the future was set to come to a small street in midtown Toronto, in the form of on-street electric vehicle chargers, homeowners said “No, thank you.”

Homeowner hesitation is one more complication to getting chargers on residential streets for use by residents or visitors. Other obstacles include equipment requirements such as utility poles close to existing on-street parking spots. The chargers “made no sense at all on a small street with young families and young kids playing out on the street all day,” Kallish said. “Also, they would take spots so that owners of two houses wouldn’t be able to park in front of their own home.”

“We all get the need to install charging stations,” Kallish said, “but it doesn’t work here and I know there are other streets that would love to have them.”Matlow supports the urgent

All those EV charging stations are doing is taking away much needed parking spaces.

The problem is the idea that electric cars are the future. What we need for a safe and healthy future is better cycling/walking infrastructure

What? Homeowners worried they’ll be getting the wrong sort of crowd hanging about? 🙄

It's not even safe to sit in your EV while it Charges. Winters are another story all together.

Im pretty sure the pushback will be huge, who can afford a overpriced EV, automakers screwing us

The climate change goal is a scam Electric cars to be built use children to mine these materials needed for batteries !! How about shove it in ur a** ! And stop sexualizing and exploiting children. Dirty nasty politicians and journalists push for child porno and child work camps

Climate change happens but naturally. The need for electric vehicles is a hoax

Every streetlight should be turned into a charger.

If only there was an ethical way to make and dispose of EV batteries. Cart before the horse on this one.

Electricity for those charging station should be generated only by green technology.

What is the wait time to buy an EV?

Homeowners don't own the fucking street

Electric cars will not be the city’s future. They would cause as much congestion as gas guzzlers and bring a whole new class of pollution to our environment. Walking, cycling and public transit will be the future.

I’ll wait for the woke to buy more electric Ironically they are as worse for climate as ICE

You people make me laugh! How 'Green' and sustainable are the products that go into EVERY EV? What method Powers these 'Charging Stations', solar and or wind?

If they’re the future, it’s only by government edict. There is no market reason to think EVs will dominate in our lifetimes, if ever. Special parking for EVs is welfare for the wealthy.

It makes no sense to install them. Electric cars are will never last long term in Canada. They do not hold a decent enough charge & they are horrible for the environment
