Very true who can afford an electric car? We have enough money to keep warm and enough money to buy gas to go to work. Bills and taxes what we are paying for to have a roof over our heads. Buying an electric car way too much money. My pay check do not have that on budget

Naw we suppose to replace our cars with electric cars no way is to expensive who have money can do a working person can't afford thath in less he do samthing on the side.

Toyota's don't sell EVs, why would you interview them out of all people?

Electronic vehicles are going to be the New Coke of the auto industry. Priced too high with completely unsustainable batteries mined in very dangerous conditions, there is nothing green about these new cars whatsoever. Another virtue signaling disaster waiting to flop.

Of course, in the prairies,North, parts of ONT and QU, it’s too cold and the distances are too far to use them. common sense would say use electric/gas vehicles, hydrogen outside of warmer urban areas, or past a particular latitude - but that would make sense, not a Trudeau thing

Anyone who can afford a $70,000 pickup or car can afford an EV, & that seems to be ALOT of people, so start there. But if you are so inclined the Bolt starts at $41,000. Over time prices will fall, just like with every new product group.

Big new market expansion. Once the big boys flood the market EV will come down on price. Remember if you will past pricing of new vehicles and options.

And add to charge them. Another Trudeau disaster coming soon.

Not many people can. Also, stop putting the cart before the horse. Charging stations and related infrastructure need to be mapped out and built across the country, before rolling out e-vehicles en masse. Energy costs, demand on energy grid,....

Tesla go build mega factory in Canada don’t have to buy Canadian aluminum across the border. Free maple syrup with every shipment.

employees can afford that, not ordinary Canadians.

I am not a Tesla Bunny, on my 3 rd Chevy EV priced right with rebates a lot less than HD Diesel rides by 100,000 grand

Since when did government get into building and selling in auto industry ?

I don't feel this has ever been a problem when it was the Chinese, Taïwan or other 3rd world countries making stuff they couldn't afford for us. Why is it a problem now?

The infrastructure is not ready for electric vehicles. We must do some serious upgrades to make sense. Until then data shows hybrids are the way to go.

Cost to replace EV batteries after 7-10 years make initial savings and rebates inconsequential. Add 20% in Canada if the vehicle is +$100k We should be focusing on Hybrid vehicle development until battery tech has further advances.

EVs are fun to drive w instant acceleration. They're cheap to recharge ($6-9), 4 times as efficient (100+ MPGe) & need min maintenance. You'll save $10-15k on fuel & repairs over 5 yrs. Also great in the winter, always starts & heat comes on instantly, no waiting for cold engine.

Can't afford woke

That is why Ford should bring back the Ontario Electric car rebate he removed !!!

'data'.....? Common sense would have told you this 5-10 years ago

Most Canadians can't afford to buy them. Even if they wanted them.

Nor will the batteries make it though COLD Canadian weather.

How about battery RECYCLING? Got any facilities for THAT? Didn’t think so.

Who the heck can afford an electric vehicle?

The average price of a new ICE vehicle is in the neighbourhood of $70,000 currently. An entry level TESLA is competitively priced. When we come to our senses and invite TESLA to build GIGA-Factories here, we might find the cost of EVs goes down further.

Owners of electric vehicles should only be allowed to charge their cars with wind or solar power, otherwise it’s just pretend.

The revenue-generating cap and trade program was providing rebates for purchasing an EV up to a certain price. Unfortunately, in 2018 the Ford government cancelled it and triggered the federal system for pollution pricing, that is, the carbon tax. (Labels on gas pumps scandal).

and most people couldn't afford a gas car when they first came out either, that's how business works...what's your point?

Interesting choice to interview a Toyota dealership. Their only EV is basically useless and only being produced in tiny numbers. toyata has been saying for years that EV’s will not be the future for years so maybe he’s a little biased?

Didn’t seem to matter for products manufactured in China and India the locals can’t afford ?

Perhaps after those vehicle and battery factories ramp up and employ Windsorites?

This will bring jobs to Windsor… Those who can afford them will buy them… plus most cars will be shipped out all over not all cars are made for those in Windsor 🤦🏽
