South Africa considering national state of disaster to fix load-shedding

South Africa is considering declaring a national state of disaster as record power cuts cripple the economy.

“Work is already underway within government to establish whether the legal requirements of a national state of disaster are met and what specific actions we would be empowered to undertake,” he said. In the case of the coronavirus outbreak, for example, it enabled lockdown rules to be enforced and medical supplies to be procured.

The country has suffered 94 consecutive days of rotational blackouts, known locally as load-shedding, often for 10 hours or more a day.

They say stage 6 requires 6000mw of power to be shed, wait until stage 8 and 9 enter the schedule eventually theyll put our power off for 24 hours each day and we pay tax/rent. fucking disgrace 😂

Why consider, implement! It's at leve 6 again.

States of disaster used to be for outside influenced events such as floods, drought, fires, tornadoes. It’s sad that self-inflicted inactions are now disasters too…

Can't do it because the anc is the disaster, they won't get rid of themselves.

How about treating solar installation costs as a tax credit?

They 've been fixing Eskom since 2008..🤮🤢🤢🤢🤮

how does that help?

We already have a state that's a disaster

As long this doesn’t mean that they will lockdown again it’s fine, declare it.

More lockdown…? Bloody useless government. Here will be no one left in 2 years. Brain drain? Watch this space
