Nico Rosberg, the 2016 Formula 1 championship who is now, among other things, a YouTube vlogger, owns one of the first examples of. The Croatian electric hypercar has four motors for a total of 1914 hp, and when set to Drift mode, the front motors disconnect. Each rear motor is good for 612 hp, so effectively, you have a 1224-hp rear-wheel drive hypercar. As Rosberg finds out, drifting it requires quick hands.
In the hills above Monaco, Rosberg drives the Nevera like a man possessed. It all seems very dangerous, even if Rosberg is an F1 champ. At a hairpin, he goes for a drift shot, stabbing the accelerator from almost a dead stop. The rear wheels spin up, and by the time Rosberg starts counterseering, it's too late and he finds himself perpendicular to the direction of the road. Thankfully there's no traffic around, and Rosberg calmly gets pointed straight again.
Later in the video, Rosberg parks the car in a turnout and can't figure out how to release the parking. He and his cameraperson bum a ride back down into Monaco with a passerby in a Polo GTI so they can get to a Christmas party for their kids, leaving the Nevera at the side of the road. It must've been a hell of a sight for any passers-by. Later that night, Rosberg and the cameraperson head back up the mountain to retrieve the car, which they do successfully.
I can't say I could drift the Nevera better than Rosberg, but I will say I'm not silly enough to try it on public roads. Surely if you can afford a car like this, you can afford to rent a track for practice too.
