Planning on watching fireworks this New Year’s Eve? Expect to get wet in milder weather.of 8 C overnight on Friday rise as high as 10 C on Saturday, then dip to 2 C overnight.

Meteorologist Gerald Cheng says rain will start on Friday evening and last through Saturday, and Toronto could see up to 25 millimetres of rain fall on New Year’s Eve. “It’s quite a change from last week when we were looking at wind chill values down below -20,” Cheng says.Environment Canada forecasts rain will taper off on Saturday overnight night.

Cheng says a warm air mass is moving northwards, from the Gulf of Mexico to Toronto, bringing the city warmer than normal temperatures for the New Year. Temperatures in Toronto will dip to about 6 C on Sunday and Monday, the agency predicts, before rising about 10 C on Tuesday.
