Extreme weather has become a part of everyday life for people across Ireland and around the world because of the climate crisis.

America is currently dealing with a deadly freeze that has claimed at least 65 lives and could devastate ecosystems. “Although confined to the English case, the figure that emerged was that the event was 10 times more likely than would have been the case in pre-industrial times.” Then in August, “heatwaves and record temperatures” were reported – especially in the Midlands, south and east –with rainfall staying “relatively low in most places”.
